Darfur refugees
Some 50,000 people have fled renewed violence in Darfur, Sudan since January, many crossing the border into eastern Chad. The IRC's emergency response has focused on meeting their desperate need for clean water.

Hope for Congo Survivors
A study carried out by the IRC and our research partners indicates that group therapy has dramatically reduced symptoms of depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder among survivors of sexual violence in Congo.

The Latest
I first met Abdallah Ibrahim Yare in Dadaab complex, home to 500,000 refugees, two years ago at the height of the famine in Somalia. He and his family, along with thousands of others, had trekked for days to Kenya in search of food and safety.
In January, we introduced you to Hassan Omar Ibrahim, a Somali who was forced to flee his home due to the famine and was living at Carafat camp, in Galkayo, Somalia. This is the next chapter in his story.
At 23, Hamid was in medical school in Canada when war broke out in Syria. Today, he’s a veteran of frontline medicine. He returned to Syria when the war begin and now works at an IRC-supported field hospital in Aleppo.
On June 20, 2013 the IRC will join the United Nations in its annual salute to the courage of refugees, World Refugee Day. IRC offices around the world are marking World Refugee Day with a variety of events throughout the month of June.
