John C. Keys, Senior Vice President of International Programs

John C. Keys is the IRC’s senior vice president of international programs, and oversees the agency’s programs in 42 countries. Mr. Keys joined the IRC in 1995 as the country director for the IRC’s programs in Rwanda. He has also served as the IRC’s regional director for the Great Lakes region in Africa, and as the Africa director. He has over twenty years of international development and relief experience.

Before joining the IRC, Mr. Keys spent four years as a country director for the American Refugee Committee. He lived and worked in Africa for 14 years, with extended assignments in Rwanda, Malawi and Togo. Mr. Keys earned his Bachelor’s degree from New York University, graduated from the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, and served four years in the Peace Corps.
