Last night the International Rescue Committee presented our 2008 Freedom Award to Kofi A. Annan, president of the Global Humanitarian Forum and former Secretary-General of the United Nations, to honor his contributions to the cause of refugees and human freedom.   Here are photos from the award dinner in New York (more information to come). [gallery]   Previous winners of the Freedom Award have included Winston Churchill (1958), Burmese Nobel laureate Daw Aung San Suu Kyi (1995), and Liberian president Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf (2006).  Last year, António Guterres and Angelina Jolie accepted the award on behalf of UNHCR, the United Nations refugee agency.

Last year,we vote Angelina

Last year,we vote Angelina Jolie for her works around the world, this year in Kofi Annan, Good choise.

I personally want to thank Mr.Kofi Annan for his good work during his mandate in United Nations. Now the worlddwide climate begun more dangerous for peacekeepers,We have fathers, Uncles, sisters and sons who are fighting for Peace.

I know that the financial crisis will continue.I care about refugees and displaced poeple who suffer the most.I would like that U.N help us to open Humanitarian Corridors for our Work.

Like a Russian Citizen, i will hold my government to invest more in humanitarian action and to provide Clean fresh Water,Electricity,Saniations and supplies to continue our works.

To conclude, i would like to thank all NGO's, Relief Workers, international communities for their courageous investment for the life of millions of poeple around the world.
