Conditions in Haiti are only marginally improved today from what they were when the earthquake struck on January 12, 2010. On a recent visit to Port-au-Prince, I was stunned by the mountains of rubble still waiting to be cleared. more »

The wind had already picked up by Thursday morning in Villambetta. It whipped around the tents and plastic tarp-covered shacks in the camp. Groups of children, grinning and oblivious to the worries of the adults, made kites by tying black plastic bags to string, hoisting them into the air. The wind carried them high. more »
