She shared these photos from the shanty towns of Port-au-Prince, where a high concentration of people, paltry or non-existent sanitation and the buildup of waste pose a massive health threat. more »

Kay Fanm means “women’s house” in Creole and for 25 years the Haitian organization has provided safety, sanctuary and hope for thousands of vulnerable women and girls, particularly victims of violence. Last month’s earthquake destroyed Kay Fanm’s main office and a facility the group used for counseling, education and other programs. more »

The ideal situation is to keep kids in a familiar surrounding with family members or with others that they know and not to remove them from a familiar setting because this just can increase their distress and make it harder for them to recover ultimately. more »
