As the East Coast of the United States cleans up after Hurricane Irene, the Gulf Coast is commemorating the sixth anniversary of the landfall of Hurricane Katrina. Back in 2005, IRC refugee resettlement offices across the country extended aid to families who were displaced by Katrina. more »

Even before the floods hit, many people in Sindh did not have access to health care. Whatever clinics and medical equipment there had been was washed away by the floodwater. Rates of illnesses, including malaria and skin infections, shot up in the wake of the floods, with many people falling very sick. more »

Baby Jenny Alexis was two months old when she was pulled alive from the rubble of her Port-au-Prince home four days after the devastating January 12, 2010 earthquake. Thought to be orphaned, Jenny was evacuated to a Southern Florida medical center for urgent treatment. more »
