As northern Uganda struggles to recover from the long and brutal LRA conflict, the IRC is reintroducing local agricultural traditions to a generation that grew up without them, and teaching older farmers modern methods that can result in more bountiful harvests. more »

When violence broke out in Kenya after the disputed 2008 presidential elections, more than 1,300 people lost their lives. With new elections scheduled for this coming March, the IRC is working with Kenyan partners to avert a repeat of the past. more »

The IRC has been registering tens of thousands of Pakistanis who’ve fled renewed fighting between Pakistani troops and militants near the Afghan border. In all, close to a half million people have passed through the Jalozai camp since January, registering to ensure they receive vital humanitarian aid. more »

The IRC has been in northern Uganda since 1998 and our team, made up mostly of Ugandans, really understands the terrain. While Joseph Kony and his Lord's Resistance Army have most likely left the country, their violent legacy lives on. more »
