When violence broke out in Kenya after the disputed 2008 presidential elections, more than 1,300 people lost their lives. With new elections scheduled for this coming March, the IRC is working with Kenyan partners to avert a repeat of the past. more »

The IRC has been registering tens of thousands of Pakistanis who’ve fled renewed fighting between Pakistani troops and militants near the Afghan border. The IRC has been in northern Uganda since 1998 and our team, made up mostly of Ugandans, really understands the terrain. While Joseph Kony and his Lord's Resistance Army have most likely left the country, their violent legacy lives on. more »
