IRC staff brief Accenture analysts at GenR event on refugee crises

NEW YORK – As a steering committee member of GenR, the International Rescue Committee’s young professionals group, I was honored to have the chance last Friday to introduce more than 100 of my Accenture colleagues to the work of the IRC.
Over 40 people attended the event at Accenture’s New York offices and another 60 dialed in to hear Rebecca Blum and Sanj Srikanthan of the IRC’s Emergency team, and James Lenton of its New York US Programs office, speak about the IRC’s response to the crisis in Syria and its work helping refugees start new lives in the United States. They also heard from my colleague Lauren Weinstein about how our company’s not-for-profit consulting arm, Accenture Development Partnerships, has collaborated with the IRC on its strategic planning.
The event was a tremendous success and helped to demonstrate that the IRC’s humanitarian message resonates very clearly with the “millennial generation.” I’m proud to be part of GenR’s efforts to give young professionals who hunger to contribute to a higher cause a chance to be part of the IRC’s lifesaving and life-changing work.
