This is the maternity ward at a health center in Niyragongo that was looted by armed men after local residents fled fighting between rebels and government troops. The IRC is working to repair damaged health centers and schools. more »

A former child soldier in South Sudan, Ador Riak Nyiel attended school for the first time in a refugee camp, eventually becoming a special needs teacher. Today he's enrolled in a pioneering IRC/University of Nairobi Master's degree program that aims to improve education for refugees. more »
