One in 8 Million: A Bhutanese refugee in New York
September 25, 2009
By The IRC
The New York Times multimedia series "One in 8 Million" is telling the stories of New Yorkers in their own words. This week we meet Tika Chapagai, who fled his home in 1992 after a government crackdown on Bhutan's Nepali-speaking minority and resettled in the Bronx last year with the IRC's help.
You can read more stories about Bhutanese refugees in New York City in this New York Times article and in a series of photo stories by IRC volunteer Misha Cohen.
