International Rescue Committee donors, volunteers, advocates, iRescue fundraisers and friends are telling us how they got to know the IRC and why they support our work:
“Tom and I talked about the IRC on our very first date. I told Tom that I had been in Hong Kong in the summer of 1962 and watched thousands of refugees fleeing China into the city. Tom responded by telling me about the IRC.”
- Sandy Ehlers
Sandy and her husband Tom began supporting the IRC in 1979. The Ehlers, who have been married for 47 years, have shared their admiration for the IRC with others, including Tom’s father, who made a generous bequest gift after hearing about the IRC’s commitment to rescuing refugees. Tom and Sandy’s children, Joe, Genevieve and Michael, are continuing the family tradition of supporting the IRC. And by including the IRC in their estate plans, the Ehlers have ensured that future generations benefit from their generosity.
