Rescue Gift of the Week: English Class

Language is a real barrier for refugees who’ve come to the United States from countries devastated by crisis. The International Rescue Committee's English classes, offered for free in many cities across the country, help refugees learn and practice the skills of their new language, giving them the chance to secure employment and provide for the day-to-day needs of their families. Helpful mentoring from instructors and volunteers provides refugees the skills and confidence they need to navigate their new surroundings.
$150 can pay for a month’s worth of English classes that will give refugee adults the skills to read, write and have confident conversations, greatly improving their career and other opportunities. This holiday season, give an IRC Rescue Gift to someone special. Rescue Gifts save lives.
