In mid-November, I visited the Eastleigh neighborhood of Nairobi, Kenya. I went to meet refugees from Somalia who are being helped by the IRC. The refugees had fled a chaotic situation in their homeland. more »

I stepped off of a teeming street into Aamina’s apartment, where the floury, slightly sour scent of injera lingered in the air. A round stove, a small TV, and a set of bunk beds lined the teal-gray walls of the one-room flat that Aamina shares with her two children and two employees. more »

I recently visited the White House complex to drop off the petition to President Obama that over 27,000 of you signed. In the petition, you asked the President to submit the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child to the US Senate for its advice and consent without delay. more »

If you joined the throng at Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert's ‘Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear’ on the Washington Mall this morning, you might have caught sight of some of my colleagues. They handed out 10,000 IRC bookmarks to rally-goers in an hour. more »
