The IRC is partnering with the UK-based charity Bidna Capoeira to teach capoeira — a challenging Afro-Brazilian sport and art form — to at-risk children in the West Bank. In honor of Mother's Day we're spotlighting some of our favorite stories about mothers. In the Ivory Coast, Prisca Mondo worried that without a birth certificate her baby daughter would not have a legal identity. With the IRC's help she was able to register two-month-old Daria, securing her access to education and health services. more »

I spent the second day of my visit to northern Ethiopia with the refugee children and young people in Shimelba. The IRC is providing education for all age groups in the camp, from pre-school to adults. We are also providing vocational and skills training. more »

It's been nearly a year since I first arrived in Haiti to help lead the IRC's efforts to reunite children and families who were separated by the 2010 earthquake. Many thousands of children lost their parents in the disaster, and thousands more lost contact with their living relatives in the chaos that followed. more »
