The UN says the number of Syrian refugees has almost doubled in the past two months: Close to 450,000 have registered to receive humanitarian aid. The IRC is doing its part to help Syrian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq. more »

When violence broke out in Kenya after the disputed 2008 presidential elections, more than 1,300 people lost their lives. With new elections scheduled for this coming March, the IRC is working with Kenyan partners to avert a repeat of the past. more »

More than 50,000 previously uprooted people had to vacate a camp just north of Goma when fighting resumed last week. Many more local residents were driven from their homes. Food, water and health care are scarce. more »

Sitting in on Mohammad’s class, one can see just how engaged his students are. They sit in groups of four, working together to solve a language question. When they need insight from their teacher, Mohammad comes to their desk. He is one of dozens of teachers in the West Bank using the "Healing Classrooms" approach to education. more »
