Last year the First Ascent kayak team went on an African river expedition with stops to see IRC programs in action along the route. They made a film called Kadoma about the journey and now they're raising money to support the IRC's work in Congo. more »

In honor of Mother's Day — Sunday, May 8 — we're spotlighting mothers' stories: Ruti Riziki arrived in Mungote camp in November 2009 after fleeing fighting between government troops and rebels in her village. In past updates, I have described the Democratic Republic of Congo as the site of the world’s largest civil war, a conflict that has led to the death of more than five million people. This year I am able to tell a more positive story about Congo. more »
