Since 2009, the IRC has trained and equipped nearly 700 volunteers in northern Uganda to provide lifesaving health care to children in remote communities struggling to recover from a decade of civil war. Meet two of these dedicated health workers. more »

Cavine Akello sells traditional pancakes at a market stall in Kitgum, Uganda. An IRC program for young mothers helped her to save enough to open her business. Since the rebel Lord's Resistance Army was driven from the region, thousands of people have returned from displacement camps to rebuild their communities. more »
