Last week, I wrote about the heart-wrenching generosity of Somali refugees in Dadaab, Kenya who are giving of what little they have to help newly arrived families in need. In mid-November, I visited the Eastleigh neighborhood of Nairobi, Kenya. I went to meet refugees from Somalia who are being helped by the IRC. The refugees had fled a chaotic situation in their homeland. more »

This summer I traveled to the Dadaab region in Kenya, where three refugee camps—among the largest in the world—host nearly 300,000 refugees. In the camps, I met refugee women who talked with me about their struggle to find enough firewood to cook for their families. more »
