These two children are refugees who fled to Zaatari camp in northern Jordan to escape the ongoing conflict in Syria. The International Rescue Committee supports thousands of Syrian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq and works with local partners to deliver aid inside Syria. Naget fled shelling in the Syrian city of Homs ten months ago. In February her family became one of the first to join the IRC’s cash distribution program, which provides debit cards and funds for Syrian refugees in Lebanon to use on basic necessities. more »

It was two years ago today that Damascus saw the first small sparks of protest. At last count at least 70,000 Syrians are dead, 2.5 million are displaced inside and outside the country and more than four million Syrians are in dire need of humanitarian aid. more »
