As Tropical Storm Isaac bears down on Haiti tonight, the International Rescue Committee is prepared to send teams already on the ground to assess damage and deliver emergency assistance.

The huge and strengthening storm is expected to lash Haiti with 70-mph winds overnight and leave behind up to 12 inches of rain.

Isaac poses an extreme threat to the 400,000 homeless earthquake survivors still living under tarps and flimsy plywood shelters in and around Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince. Many of their makeshift camps, which sprang up after the devastating January 2010 quake, sit in areas already prone to mudslides and flooding.
