Video: A forgotten crisis

A Forgotten Crisis: The Drought in Turkana, Kenya from International Rescue Committee on Vimeo.
The drought in East Africa – the worst to hit the region in 60 years – continues to have a devastating impact.
Turkana, one of Kenya’s hottest, most arid and most isolated areas, has been hit especially hard by the crisis. During the last year Turkana had almost no rainfall, putting thousands of lives in jeopardy. Across the region malnutrition rates have skyrocketed, and many young children have had to quit school to help their families find water.
The Forgotten Crisis, a new short film by IRC-UK, documents the scale of the damage caused by the drought in Turkana. The film also shows how the International Rescue Committee is helping communities get back on their feet by delivering water, health care and sanitation services to those in need.
