I have been visiting refugee camps in northern Ethiopia with my wife Nancy, International Rescue Committee (IRC) board member Allen Moore, and the IRC’s country director in Ethiopia, David Murphy.

Today I visited two more camps. Unlike Shimelba, Mai Aini and Adi Harush are relatively new. Mai Aini was established in 2008 and has a population of more than 12,000 Eritrean refugees. Adi Harush is in its earliest start-up phase and faces many challenges. Eritreans have been crossing into neighboring Ethiopia ever since the border war between the two countries, which lasted between1998 and 2000.

Here are some photos and impressions from my visit to the two camps.
