A Reuters dispatch today reported that President Bush issued an order last week allowing thousands of Liberian refugees living in the U.S., who faced deportation due to the expiration of their temporary immigration designation on October 1, to stay another 18 months. Jana Mason, IRC director for advocacy, said the U.S. understood the need to offer temporary sanctuary to a population trying to escape war, but it is inevitable that those who stay for a long time will put down roots..

The Liberians should be

The Liberians should be allowed to stay in the United States permanently if they want. By now they have established homes, jobs, friends, churches and support systems, and contribute a lot to their communities and they are a loving respectful people that anyone would want to have as a neighbor. This is an opportunity for our new presidential elect Obama to make this happen..Our country is based on immigration and every American has an ancestor who has immigrated herev so this is a continuence of the rebirth and growth of our nation and clearly shows how people of many nations can live together in peace and love.
