Ernst Leo’s wife and oldest daughter were killed when their apartment collapsed in the earthquake that devastated Haiti’s capital on January 12, 2010. His younger daughter was trapped under the rubble for two days before she was rescued; her right arm had to be amputated. Today, the family is building a new life in Miami with the IRC’s support. more »

Baby Jenny Alexis was two months old when she was pulled alive from the rubble of her Port-au-Prince home four days after the devastating January 12, 2010 earthquake. Thought to be orphaned, Jenny was evacuated to a Southern Florida medical center for urgent treatment. more »

It's just extraordinary that a two month old infant with serious injuries could survive three days under the rubble, that she would be found and evacuated to the U.S. for medical care, that her parents, informed that she was dead, would keep searching and eventually locate her more »
