Help the IRC Support Hurricane Katrina Evacuees in the Seattle Area

Seattle, WA 01 Nov 2005 - 

The International Rescue Committee is assisting many of the estimated 1,000 Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita evacuees who have moved to the Seattle area by helping them:       

  • Locate permanent housing
  • Enroll their children in school
  • Find jobs
  • Obtain a Washington State driver’s license
  • Sign up for food stamps and other social services
  • Get medical attention
  • Receive donated food

Interested in helping Katrina and Rita evacuees?  We are seeking the following donations:

  • Winter coats - Must be new or like-new
  • Phone cards
  • Gift Cards - Target, Sears, or Fred Meyer cards are preferred
