IRC Event Highlights Work by Refugee Artists in Seattle
Seattle, Wash. - 03 Jul 2006 -
On June 28, 2006 refugee artists from fourteen countries around the globe participated in the International Rescue Committee's first Refugee ARTvocacy exhibit in Seattle.
The exhibit featured painting, graphic design, music, dancing, and traditional crafts such as henna tattoos, Afghani beaded wedding accessories, Ukrainian painted eggs, Ethiopian basketry, and Meskhetian Turkish knitting.
Thank you to the local businesses, donors, and 44 volunteers who made this event happen Refugee ARTvocacy was funded in part by a Neighborhood Matching Fund award from the City of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods.
