The IRC is supporting the relief efforts of three Japanese aid groups assisting survivors of the earthquake and tsunami that  devastated northeastern Japan in March 2011.

April 14, 2011 - As Japan is rocked by powerful aftershocks, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) continues to support the relief efforts of three Japanese aid groups assisting survivors of last month’s devastating earthquake and tsunami. The three IRC-supported groups – the Association for Aid and Relief Japan (AAR), JEN and Peace Winds Japan – are distributing fuel, blankets, food and other emergency items to evacuation centers where hundreds of thousands of survivors are sheltering.
