Newsweek magazine recommends the International Rescue Committee to readers ?in a mood to give.?

?Who'll make the best use of your donation?? the magazine asks in its edition dated  Dec. 16, 2002. 

?We've picked five charities, all financially sustainable groups operating with low overhead,? the article said in presenting the list.  The other selected charities operate in the fields of missing children, mental health, land conservation and community service, respectively.

The IRC has also won high marks again from Worth, SmartMoney and Forbes magazines, which all cite it as one of the top U.S.-based charities.  Read our summary of their evaluations here.
