Photo Essay - Help for Families Displaced by Heavy Flooding in Pakistan

The International Rescue Committee is working with USAID and other partners to deliver food to thousands of families in northern Pakistan, where two months of heavy flooding have displaced at least 10,000 people.

The IRC is also partnering with ECHO, the humanitarian aid arm of the European Commission, on a long-term disaster preparedness plan for the region that will focus on strengthening the local communities’ ability to respond to natural disasters and minimize their impact.

The IRC conducted extensive emergency relief efforts in Pakistan’s North-West Frontier Province earlier this year following two months of torrential rains, avalanches, flooding and severe snowstorms that left more than 100,000 people stranded without access to food and medicines.
