Tell your Senators: Help the People of Congo
According to the International Rescue Committee’s recent mortality survey 38,000 Congolese are dying each month - more than 4 million people have lost their lives in the Congo since 1998. The majority of deaths are from easily preventable and treatable illnesses; but the ongoing conflict keeps the people of Congo from getting the food, clean water, and medical treatment they need. If the violence subsided, this exceptional death rate could be controlled.
Tell your Senators to support bill S.2125: Democratic Republic of the Congo Relief, Security, and Democracy Promotion Act of 2005. This bill would establish core principles of US policy to help save lives and rebuild this war-torn country.
