FARM

Fostering Agricultural Refugee Microenterprise

A new program developed by the IRC Phoenix, Fostering Agricultural Refugees Microenterprises (FARM) is an initiative aimed at the economic empowerment of refugees through agricultural business. The FARM program supports participants through education and the provision of farming resources. Open to all refugees residing in Maricopa county, the FARM program includes enterprises based on animal or crop production, aquaculture, horticulture, and agriculture.

Currently the FARM program has 30 registered farmers and a 14 acre plot of land, located at 4762 N. 189th Ave., Litchfield Park, AZ. In order to continue and expand operations, the program accepts donations of farming equipment and tools, land, seeds and compost, and monetary donations.

UPDATE: The FARM program is harvesting summer crops, including zucchini, okra, melon, and squash. Produce is available by contacting Tim Olorunfemi or by visiting the central Phoenix farmer's market Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
