2011 First Thanksgiving Feast: You are Invited!
Save the date of November 19 for the International Rescue Committee in Atlanta’s 2011 First Thanksgiving Feast. This annual IRC Atlanta tradition brings IRC staff, volunteers and newly resettled refugee families together to share the American tradition of Thanksgiving. In addition to the turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings, our feast will include music, soccer and games for the kids.
Thanks to the generous hospitality of St. Timothy’s United Methodist Church, the feast will take place at the church on Saturday, November 19 from 1 to 3pm. St. Timothy’s is located at 5365 Memorial Drive, Stone Mountain, GA 30083.
The IRC is partnering with local volunteer groups to help welcome newly arrived clients at this year’s feast. Youth groups from the Unitarian Universalist Church of Metro Atlanta and the Hamzah Islamic Center will be sharing food and games with clients, and welcoming them in the spirit of giving.
“This event is a wonderful, warm welcome for our newly arrived clients,” said Amber Mull, IRC Volunteer Coordinator. “It allows people to share in the true spirit of Thanksgiving.”
Come out and celebrate with us. To find out more, contact Amber Mull at Amber.Mull@Rescue.org.
