Family Mentor Mixer May 5th
IRC Atlanta is excited to announce its first Family Mentor Mixer. On Saturday, May 5th, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, IRC staff and family mentor volunteers will gather at Kathmandu Kitchen and Grill to have lunch, socialize, and discuss the services IRC offers.
Kathmandu Kitchen and Grill is refugee owned and operated, and also Atlanta’s only Nepali restaurant. It is located at 926 Montreal Road in Clarkston, within the Thrifttown shopping center. Lunch will begin at noon, followed by a presentation at 12:45.
This event will build on the first mixer held earlier this year as part of IRC Atlanta’s newest support system for the family mentorship program. The program, which pairs volunteers from the Atlanta area with newly arrived refugee families, is an important part of many refugees’ transition to their new lives in America. Family mentors focus on practicing English conversation, orienting families to their new city and community, and offering friendly support.
