Free Income Tax Filing Assistance at IRC in Atlanta

IRC in Atlanta is pleased to announce that it is operating is VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) site again this tax season. IRC offers free tax preparation and filing for income eligible taxpayers, an Internal Revenue Service certified tax assistance program in partnership with the Atlanta Prosperity Campaign.  All the volunteer tax preparers have been trained and passed an IRS preparer certification test.

  Refugees, especially those filing US federal income tax return for the first time, are the target population for IRC in Atlanta’s VITA site. However, IRC also serves any area taxpayer who meets the income criteria of earning $49,000 or less in 2010. The site works to ensure that everyone served gets every  tax credit they are eligible to receive. IRC offers free electronic filing for all eligible returns, and most clients served received their refunds through direct deposit within two to three weeks of filing.     The IRC VITA site is open three days a week: Thursdays, 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Fridays, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm and Saturdays, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.  No appointment is necessary, and new clients are welcome.
