Immigration Services

The IRC in Atlanta is an accredited agency with the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA). The IRC in Atlanta’s Immigration Department provides low cost, high quality immigration case management services to refugees, asylees, and immigrants. The Immigration Department has three BIA accredited staff members who are authorized to complete immigration applications and represent clients in front of US government officials. In helping refugees to attain citizenship, the IRC strengthens communities and encourages civic integration and participation. 

 
Services Provided:
 
Citizenship & Naturalization    
For refugees who have fled their native country, becoming citizens of the United States is a crucial step in making the US their new home. The IRC will guide clients through the entire process from submission to the oath ceremony.  
 
Refugee/Aslyee Adjustment of Status     
Refugees are required by law to apply for their permanent residency one year after arrival in the US. The IRC is able to offer language appropriate case management services for those with limited English proficiency.
 
Family Reunification    
The IRC helps reunite families who have been separated by war and conflict, as well as assist immigrants and US citizens apply for family visas.
 
Additional Services     
The IRC assists with applications for Travel Documents, Affidavit of Supports, Work Authorizations, Replacement of Lost Documents, and more.
 
Fee Waivers     
For low income clients, the IRC case managers can help prepare fee waivers for the government application fee. 
 
Community Outreach     
The IRC hosts informative presentations at community organizations and in ESL classes to educate the community regarding the benefits of citizenship, and provide an opportunity to answer any immigration related questions.
