Save the Date to Commemorate World Refugee Day 2012
Every year on June 20th, the United Nations observes World Refugee Day, a day that honors the courage, strength and determination of women, men and children who are forced to flee their homes under threat of persecution, conflict and violence.
In honor of the day, the IRC in Baltimore invites you to join us for our annual World Refugee Day Celebration on June 22nd at the Creative Alliance. The event will begin at 6pm, will include a reception with intercontinental cuisine, and showcase the talent of local refugees through performances by Bhutanese and Ghanaian drumming groups and a traditional Middle Eastern music ensemble.
Starting at 7pm, the evening will also premiere two documentary shorts including The Paradise That Wasn’t, a film co-produced by a Congolese teen, and Soccer Without Borders, a documentary film that tells the story of a refugee youth soccer team in Baltimore,
To attend the event, please RSVP to the Creative Alliance, 410-276-1651.
