International Rescue Committee (IRC)

Welcome to the IRC in Baltimore

Refugees arrive in the US eager to take full advantage of the freedom and opportunities available in their new country. The IRC in Baltimore is dedicated to providing refugees with the skills, services, and support they need to thrive in the US.  The office opened in 1999 and is co-located with partner agencies that make up the Baltimore Resettlement Center (BRC) – a “one-stop shop” designed to assist refugees start successful new lives. To date, the IRC, along with assistance from our partners, has resettled over 5,000 refugees and 2,000 asylees from over 70 countries. Since 2010, our resettlement services reach over 1,000 people annually.

The array of services offered by the IRC in Baltimore include housing, cash assistance, employment assistance, job development, health services, small business development, and various initiatives to help refugees integrate into their communities. We also help people realize their dreams of becoming U.S. citizens through our immigration services.  Click here to learn more about our programs.

We succeed in assisting refugees only with the strong support of the various communities in Central Maryland. Refugee families benefit greatly from community volunteers, advocates, and donors.  I urge you to become active in our efforts to assist refugees to establish a safe and secure life here in Baltimore and the surrounding areas (Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Frederick, Harford and Howard Counties).

It is my hope that you will regularly visit our website to stay informed with the numerous activities offered by the IRC in Baltimore. If you would like to get involved or learn more, please contact us at
