Boise State Nursing Students To Distribute First Aid Kits & Train IRC Boise Clients

A group of ten Boise State University nursing students, coordinated by BSU Professor Cathy Deckys, R.N., and IRC Boise staff, are assembling kits of over the counter medical treatment items to donate to IRC Boise clients along with a multi-part training on how to safely use them.  Refugees often arrive without ever having had personal access to basic preventative and non-emergency medical items, like children’s fever medication, thermometers and ace bandages.  IRC Boise and the BSU nursing student team are preparing a fall 2012 project to provide each newly arrived family with a kit of medical items and classes teaching how to use them safely.
