Welcome New Americorps Member

Lauren Truss has joined the Charlottesville staff as an AmeriCorps Volunteer, serving as economic empowerment coordinator. Lauren will be continuing IRC’s work in support of refugee microenterprise and financial asset development. She will have primary staff responsibility for Common Thread, the refugee women’s craft cooperative. Originally from New York, Lauren graduated from Mount St. Mary’s College with a BA in History and served two years in the Peace Corps in the Republic of Palau working as an ESL teacher and a community development volunteer. The IRC is very excited to have Lauren join us.
