Volunteer with the IRC and Help a Refugee Family Rebuild their Lives
Whether you are interested in volunteering for a few weeks, a few months or completing an internship for college credit, the IRC has an opportunity for you. At the IRC in Dallas and Abilene, you can help set up an apartment for a refugee family soon to arrive, pick them up from the airport and welcome them to America, deliver donated goods, provide transportation to get to medical or other appointments, or help a refugee fill out their first job application.
Additional opportunities include serving as a family mentor to help a newly arrived family acclimate to life in their new home, working with your friends, colleagues or church to create welcome baskets, organizing a donation drives and even providing administrative or professional services that support the mission of the IRC.
The first step is attending a volunteer orientation and filling out a volunteer application. Once you have completed the orientation, we will integrate you into the volunteer program, and assign you to a position in your identified area of interest.
