BACKGROUND:  The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives.  At work in more than 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities to restore safety, dignity and hope, the IRC leads the way from harm to home.  Domestically, our 26 offices across the U.S. ensure new arrivals have food, shelter and clothing, and work with refugees to help them gain self-sufficiency.
SCOPE OF WORK: The role of the IRC Job Placement Associate is to assist in finding qualifying employment for the refugee or asylee with whom they are paired within the first four months the refugee or asylee is enrolled in the Early Employment program. 
•Place the client into their first job within four months
•Work 40 hours per client within four months and report those hours weekly in a manner determined by the IRC
•Assist refugee clients with job searches and researching employers
•Help refugee clients complete job applications in-person and online 
•Create resumes and cover letters, and provide role-playing interview practice
•Drive clients to interviews and job fairs
•Must be culturally sensitive and respectful of various backgrounds, lifestyles and beliefs
•Must be comfortable speaking to strangers and cold calling
•Fluent in English; Fluency in Chinese, Arabic, Armenian, Farsi, Spanish is highly desirable
•Have reliable transportation with valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
•Respect client privacy and treat family information as confidential
•Flexibility, resourcefulness, and easy-going attitude a plus
