Join Us: World Refugee Day Celebration 2012
Around the globe, the month of June is recognized as World Refugee Awareness Month. To celebrate the refugees in our community, the IRC in Los Angeles and other community partners invite you to join us for an afternoon in the park celebrating the courage, strength and determination of Refugees, as well as the dedicated people who help them start new lives in the Los Angeles community. The event will be held Sunday, June 10th from 12:00 to 4:00pm at the Griffith Park Crystal Springs Reserve Picnic Area, 4730 Crystal Springs Drive, Los Angeles, CA, 90027.
There will food and refreshments as well as community presentations on emergency preparedness, CPR training, cultural performances and arts and crafts – including face painting and other activities for children. Thuan Nguyen, the State Refugee Coordinator from the California Department of Social Services, and Judge Bruce Einhorn, “The Modern-Day Author of Asylum Law” and one of the original drafters of the Refugee Relief Act will deliver keynote speeches. Come for a great day in the park with your family and friends!
