Refugees Ramp-Up

The IRC in Los Angeles continues to collaborate with non-profit organizations to introduce our refugees to new opportunities that allow them to achieve early self-sufficiency. Recently we worked with the United Way of Greater Los Angeles to provide our clients with information on their new Ramp-UP program. The goal of the program is to encourage people to save money by assisting them in opening a savings account that pays a higher than normal interest rate. Interest subsidies are provided by United Way and credited every three months during the 15-month account period and a client can earn up to $2,520.00. The best part is that the money is totally tax-free. More than 30 clients attended the session with half of them signing up for the account.
