The Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars take on Hollywood

The Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars made a stop at the Roxy Theatre on May 12, during their “Rise and Shine” tour and, the IRC in Los Angeles was there to support them, as well as to educate those in attendance about the work and mission of the IRC. The Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars are a band of six musicians who met each other while in a refugee camp in Guinea, where they fled after a vicious civil war in their native Sierra Leone. Many of their family and friends were murdered in the war, leaving each of them with physical and emotional scars that may never heal. Having understood, firsthand, the plight of being a refugee, the band provided IRC with the opportunity to promote their text-to-give campaign, with proceeds going to the local IRC chapter—allowing us to continue to help refugees currently residing in Los Angeles County, by providing them with adequate resettlement services.
