Celebrating the Holiday Season
On December 17th, 2010, the IRC in New York as well as its Elizabeth branch in New Jersey hosted their annual holiday party to celebrate the season with all the refugee men, women and children who were resettled to the area in the last year. Both events were a great success, complete with food, dancing, gifts as well as an unexpected appearance from Santa Claus himself. For most of the refugees present, this was the first time they celebrated the holidays in the United States and seeing them embrace their new home with such enthusiasm was truly moving.
The IRC in New York and New Jersey is forever grateful to everyone who participated by donating time, enthusiasm, gifts, food and never ending energy to both of these events!
We would especially like to thank Magdaliza Pentz from Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield in New Jersey as well Dannie Chang for their generous contributions; our friends at Food Trends Catering and Café Edison in New York for providing us with delicious food to make our evening complete. We couldn't possibly forget our colleagues at IRC Headquarters for graciously participating in our Giving Tree, as well as the staff at Proskauer and Baby Buggy for their secret Santa projects. Last, but by no means least, thank you to our dedicated staff and volunteers who supported our every whim and request – you are all an invaluable part of the IRC Family!
