Intern with the Refugee Youth Summer Academy
Since its inception in 1999, the Refugee Youth Program has developed partnerships with New York City public schools, community-based organizations and local colleges and universities to support the positive development of refugee youth and their communities in New York City. The Refugee Youth Program provides year round programming working directly with refugee youth, their parents and families, and their schools.
The Refugee Youth Summer Academy is a six-week program focusing on English literacy and math skills newly arrived refugee youth need to succeed at their grade level in the New York City public system. In the morning students participate in academic classes while afternoon sessions are reserved for creative arts and recreational activities including sports, arts and crafts, theatre, music and dance. Field Trips are held on Fridays.
