Laying Down New Roots in the Bronx
For the past 5 months, refugees and asylees from such diverse countries as Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cameroon and Pakistan have been enthusiastically tending to their vegetable patches at Drew Gardens in the South Bronx. Every week, the gardeners gather in the main reception of the IRC in New York and eagerly make their way “north” from mid-town Manhattan to connect with their new roots.
