Sowing Hope, Growing Communities: A Big Success!

To mark the arrival of spring and the start of a New Roots urban farming initiative in the Bronx, the IRC in New York held its 4th annual benefit at the Brooklyn Brewery on April 28th. Attendees arrived from all corners of the tri-state area, some long time supporters of the IRC, others new to the organization, all with the same conviction to endorse the building of a community garden for newly arrived refugees.

Posted in Time Out New York, the event was attended by over 200 people and raised close to $10,000, a great boost to kick start a long term project that will not only help newly arrived refugees achieve self reliance but also strengthen their ties to new communities.

The IRC in New York would like to thank everyone who attended the benefit. A very special thank you goes to the Brooklyn Brewery and its staff for being such supportive hosts for the 4th year in a row, and all of the following supporters who donated food or raffle prizes and made the evening a success:

Pies N Thighs - Teddy’s Bar & Grill - New York Theatre Workshop - Juliette - Taco Chulo - Earth Yoga - Fuerza Bruta - Brooklyn Cupcake - Mesa Coyoacan - Yoga Vida - Enid’s - Nippon Restaurant - Brooklyn Bowl - Martin’s Pretzels.
