San Jose: IRC Thanks Former Interns and Volunteers and Welcomes the New

The IRC in San Jose bids farewell to our fall/winter interns: Michael Shih, Perry Lopez, Menglan Fan, Asal Seyed, and Thoa Hoang. We hope Michael has a safe term of service with the Peace Corps in Indonesia. Perry and Thoa will continue teaching English; Mr. Lopez will be in Turkey and Ms. Hoang in Mexico. Finally, we wish Menglan and Asal the best of luck in law school. Each intern has been essential to the successes of our programs, as well as clients’ resettlement and integration in the community. They will be greatly missed by San Jose staff and clients, and we wish them success in each of their paths after the IRC.

For spring, we welcome a fresh team of interns: Ani Melkumyan, Charmaine Escober, and Megan Malave. Ani will be serving as our Administrative and Outreach intern, Charmaine as our Employment Development Assistant, and Megan as our Vocational ESL tutor.

On March 29th, the IRC in San Jose had a volunteer appreciation dinner to thank old and new interns and volunteers for their dedication and compassion working for the IRC. Our sincerest thanks to The Market by Safeway in downtown San Jose, The Cheesecake Factory of Oakridge and Valley Fair malls, Rubio’s of Oakridge and Valley Fair, and Trader Joe’s of College Park for their generous donations of gift cards and food item for this event. The aforementioned donors have consistently supported the IRC, and shown great care for local community development.
